These interesting facts about our curriculum and services:
- That St. Joan of Arc School came into being in 1924 because
of Father Ward Meehan.
- That in 1989, we were accredited by the Middle States Association
and successfully completed our re-accreditation in 1999.
- That we were designated a National Blue Ribbon School of
Excellence in 1996/1997 by the U.S. Dept of Education.
- That
we have a comprehensive academic program including Language
Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Religion, Art,
Music, Computer Education, Foreign Language, Physical Education,
and Library.
- That we have a fully equipped Science Lab.
- That we have a Learning Center with a full time teacher
dedicated to helping students.
- That we have a fully equipped Computer Lab and there are
computer classes once a week for students in Grades 1-8.
- That we have a computer in every classroom with Internet
connections.
- There is a band program available for those who are musically
inclined.
- There is an after school program for children, which runs
from 3-6:00P.M. on regular school days and from 12:30-6:00
P.M. on Wednesdays. Students can participate on a daily,
weekly, or monthly basis.
- During Catholic Schools Week there is an annual Science
Fair for all students in grades 5-8 and on Student Appreciation
Day, the students are treated to goodies.
- That we have a Medical Room with an R.N.
- That we have an Early Childhood Program for 3 and 4 year
olds.
- That we have a full day Kindergarten Program with a Teacher
and Assistant.
- That our 3rd graders have a Book Club.
- That our 4th through 8th graders can enjoy Clubs such as
Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Garden, Chess, Newspaper,
Computer, Stock
Market and Tutoring on Wednesdays.
- That we have a Student Council.
- That we have a very active Home School Association which
provides support to the school and sponsors activities and
treats for all our students.
- That our annual Dance-a-thon is the only mandated fund-raiser.

- That 15 % of our 2005
graduating class received scholarships to high school.
- That 100% of our 2005 graduating class were accepted into
a high school of their choice.
- That 95 % of our 2005
graduating class were accepted into prestigious Catholic/public
high schools.
- That 97% of our 8th graders passed the 2005 New York State
Mathematics test.
- That 96% of our 4th graders passed the 2005 New York State
Mathematics test.
- That 80% of our 8th graders passed the 2005 New York State
ELA.
- That 80% of our 4th graders passed the 2005 New York State
ELA.
