TITLE I SERVICES:

ST. JOAN OF ARC CATHOLIC SCHOOL HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR AFTER SCHOOL TITLE I SERVICES PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH EXTRA SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION IN MATH AND READING. A GUIDANCE COUNSELOR HAS ALSO BEEN ASSIGNED TO OUR SCHOOL.

Title I is a Federally funded program that provides small group instruction to students in non-public schools at NO COST to the student or the school. Here in New York City the teachers work for the Department of Education. These services are FREE to those who qualify.

Mrs. Lauren Henderson works with Mr. Fruner, Mr. Donovan, and Ms. Rubino who are applying for services for each student. Speak to Mrs. Henderson for details.

Our Title I teachers all work in Catholic schools during the school day and come to us after school because we have NO empty classrooms in our buildings for them. Additionally, the after school time slots keep the students in their classrooms so they don't miss any class time here during the school day.

Math will be taught here at St. Joan's from Monday through Thursdays by Mrs. Robyn Engelson from 3:30-5:30p.m. Mrs. Engelson also teaches Math in Notre Dame Catholic Academy of Ridgewood (formerly Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal School) during the school day. (Mr. Fruner is a graduate of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. His mom and dad are active parishioners of "Mirac.")

Our Reading teacher has not yet been assigned. Once we receive word and meet the teacher, we will pass on the good news.

Our Guidance Counselor, Miss Nadage Alexandre, is available Monday and Tuesdays 3:30-5:30p.m. Miss Alexandre works at St. Leo's School during the school day. Both teachers come to St. Joan's with high recommendations from their "school day" principals, whom Mr. Fruner and Mr. Donovan know. Mrs. Henderson and Mr. Fruner have already met their supervisors and are enthusiastic about this added component to St. Joan's programs.

The mission of St. Joan of Arc School is to teach, build community, and serve.
Dare the Impossible...Live the Vision!
